There are a few projects done this week. It was generally small projects apart from two bigger flower pieces that will be completed some other time.

Mes premières semaines chez Tatouage Magnolia ont été fantastiques. J’aime la place et les gens et je suis excitée de voir à quel point j’ai déjà des projets intéressants. Je suis aussi très confortable dans ma petite pièce juste à moi.

Voici un avant goût de mes premiers projets cette semaine. J’ai terminé le cou de Sophie avec plein de couleurs éclatantes. C’est un endroit difficile à tatouer donc il reste encore quelques retouches.

Je suis aussi vraiment contente d’avoir terminé le tatouage de Steph. Je pense qu’il s’agit d’un de mes meilleurs tatouage réalisé jusqu’à maintenant.

Finalement, j’ai fait ce petit tatouage coloré et amusant d’une lune et soleil pour Sonia.

Je serai à la convention de tatouage d’Ottawa au Casino du Lac-Leamy à Gatineau sous la bannière de Tatouage Magnolia. L’événement aura lieu les 22-23-24 octobre. My first weeks at Tatouage Magnolia are awesome. I love the place and the people and I’m thrilled to see how much interesting project I already got. I’m also super comfy in my little cozy tattoo room!

Here’s a taste of my first week’s projects. I finished Sophie’s neck tattoo with fun rainbow colors. It’s a very hard place to tattoo so it still needs a few touch ups.

I’m also very happy to be done with Steph’s day of the dead girl. I think it turned out to be one of the best tattoos I ever did.

Finally I did this small but fun colourful sun and moon piece for Sonia.

I’ll be attending the Ottawa Tattoo Expo at Lac Leamy’s Casino in Gatineau under the Tatouage Magnolia’s banner. The event will take place on October 22-23-24. I’m still free for appointments during the show. Email me soon if you want to take part in the event with me, first come first served.

Après encore quelques semaines, je suis finalement complètement installée dans mon nouvel environnement. Je suis retourné à Sherbrooke pour une semaine pour terminer quelques projets et revoir mes amis. Je ne pense pas retourner travailler en Estrie avant plusieurs mois. J’ai envie d’une petite routine stable et de travailler sur mes propres projets pour un moment. Je devrais entre autre recommencer à travailler « live » sur Livestream dans les prochaines semaines et rouvrir la boutique RubyCherry.

Je commence à considérer l’option de participer à la convention de tatouage de Calgary avec Rich Grenier en octobre. Plus de détail à ce sujet s’en viendront sous peu.

After a few more weeks, I am finally completely installed in my new environment. I returned to Sherbrooke for a week to finish some projects and to see my friends. I don’t think I’ll return to work in the Eastern Townships for several months. I want to live a simple daily routine and work on my own projects for a while. Amongst other things, I should start working live again on Livestream in the next few weeks and reopen the RubyCherry Shop.

I’m starting to consider the option to take part in the Calgary Tattoo Festival with Rich Grenier in October. More detail on this subject soon.

Wow, presque un mois depuis mon dernier update! J’ai été occupée avec mon déménagement et mon installation dans mon nouvel environnement. Le déménagement s’est bien passé et j’ai pris une grosse semaine pour récupérer. J’aime mon nouveau travail chez FutureSkin et j’ai l’intention de prendre ça molo cet été. J’aime aussi beaucoup mon nouvel appartement et la ville d’Ottawa. J’ai l’impression de prendre des vacances puisque le travail n’est pas stressant et que j’ai très peu de distractions extérieures. Vive la liberté. J’ai aussi l’intention de recommencer à travailler sur le site web de Rubymoon et ses différents projets tranquillement d’ici l’automne. Mais j’avoue ne pas me sentir pressée.

J’ai surtout travaillé sur de petits tatouages lors de ces deux premières semaines, je vous les poste en vrac. Certains étaient intéressants, comme cet homme qui voit l’image des super héros Batman et Superman comme l’incarnation du thème classique « good side » « bad  side » de sa personnalité.  J’ai aussi réalisé une illustration pour ma nouvelle carte d’affaire chez FutureSkin, ainsi que commencé une première séance d’une fleur psychédélique pour Sophie, la perceuse du studio.

Wow, almost a month since my last update! I was busy with my moving and my installation in my new environment. The actual moving went well and it took me a big week to recover. I like my new work at FutureSkin and I intend to take it easy this summer. I also like my new apartment and Ottawa very much. It feels like some holidays since work is not stressing and I have very few external distractions. Hurray for freedom. I also intend to slowly start working again on the Rubymoon’s website and his various projects until fall. But I’m in no rush really.

I mainly did small tattoos the last two weeks and I’m posting them in bulk for you. Some were interesting, like this man who sees the image of the super heroes Batman and Superman like the incarnation of the traditional theme “good side” “bad side” of his personality.  I also created an illustration for my new business card at FutureSkin and did a first sitting of a psychedelic flower tattoo for Sophie, the shop’s piercer.

Il y a deux semaines, j’ai participé au Festival de Tatouage de Halifax. Je m’y suis rendu avec Rich Grenier et nous y avons tatoué pour ces trois journées consécutives. C’était la première fois que je prenais l’avion toute seule et c’à été toute une expérience. La plus part des photos et vidéos de l’événement peuvent être vus sur mon Facebook. Voici quelques images exclusives des tatouages que j’ai faits sur place. Je ne peux pas dire qu’il s’agit du genre de designs que je fais habituellement et c’était surtout pour l’argent. J’imagine que c’est normal quand on n’est pas trop connu encore mais j’espère avoir quelques rendez-vous intéressants l’an prochain.

Je travaille présentement à terminer mes choses avant mon départ pour FutureSkin à Ottawa dans deux semaines. La plus part de mes choses sont prêtes et j’ai déjà déménagé quelques boîtes dans mon nouvel appartement. Puisque j’ai terminé beaucoup de travaux ces derniers jours, je vous offre les photos en vrac sans commentaires précis sur chacune.

Two weeks ago was the Halifax tattoo festival. I attended with Rich Grenier and we tattooed our ass off for those 3 days. It was my first time taking the plane alone and it was such a buzz. Most of the pictures and video of the actual event can be seen on my Facebook. Here are some exclusive ones of the tattoos I did there. I can’t say it was my usual kind of designs and it was mainly for the money. I guess it’s like this when you’re not really known yet so I hope I’ll have more interesting appointments next year.

I’m also working a lot to get all my stuff finished before I move to FutureSkin in Ottawa in two weeks. Most of my stuff is ready and I already moved a few boxes in my new apartment. Since I finished a lot of work these last days, I’m giving it to you in bulk without commenting on each one of them.

I also got my car lettered so keep your eyes open to see me around town!

Beaucoup de choses se sont produites depuis mon dernier journal, c’est pourquoi je n’ai pas écrit depuis un moment. Premièrement, après plusieurs événements et déchirements j’ai décidé de remettre à plus tard le projet de l’Angleterre. Je n’exclus pas d’y voyager dans le futur rapproché mais j’ai manqué de courage pour faire le grand saut de déménager dans un autre pays. Durant ma réflexion, j’ai été invitée par Rich Grenier à venir passer une semaine dans la belle région de l’Outaouais. J’ai travaillé chez FutureSkin sur Rideau à Ottawa pendant mon séjour et j’ai été charmé par la ville et les gens. J’ai donc décidé en définitive de déménager là bas au mois de Juin. Je travaillerai chez FutureSkin à temps plein à partir du 21 juin.

Many things happened since my last entry, this is why I did not write for a while. First of all, after several events and tearing I decided to postpone my England project. I don’t exclude to travel there in the close future but I lacked courage to do that big step of moving in another country. During my thinking, I was invited by Rich Grenier to come spend a week in the beautiful Outaouais region. I worked at FutureSkin on Rideau in Ottawa during my stay and I was charmed by the city and people. I thus ultimately decided to move down there in June. I will work full-time at FutureSkin starting June 21st.

This week I finished Jean-Christophe’s half-sleeve as well as the reproduction the painting “Horizon” from Angry Blue on Nicolas’ ribs.

Right now I am finishing all my in progress tattoos and I do not take any new project in Sherbrooke. You can contact me for appointments in Ottawa or Halifax! Once I’m settled I’ll do live tattooing again as well as the online shop. I will have all the time necessary to dedicate myself to all my personal projects.

Cette semaine on a eu le plaisir d’avoir l’été avant le printemps! Ça fait vraiment du bien et ça redonne de l’énergie. J’en ai profité pour terminer une peinture commencée en Livestreaming il y a quelques semaines. C’est un mandala, rien d’extraordinaire mais ça fait du bien à l’inconscient il parait.

J’ai aussi eu le plaisir d’avoir une feature de 9 photos dans le magasine américain « Tattoos for Women » no.94. J’ai envoyé des photos il y a plusieurs mois et j’ai finalement été publiée! J’ai aussi possiblement une feature qui m’attend sur un site web Anglais mais c’est encore en développement.

De plus,  j’ai finalement trié ma liste d’envoi courriel et je devrais par conséquent recommencer les tatouages en direct et aussi la boutique de chandails sous peu.

Point de vue nouveauté, j’ai terminé le tatouage de Christelle, une gypsie zombie que j’ai hâte d’ajouter à mon folio!

J’ai aussi ajouté un cadre hivernal autour du tatouage de chien de Josée qu’elle trouvait trop simple.

Nicolas est venu pour continuer un morceau de sa manche infernale.

Pour terminer, j’ai eu droit à deux tatouages à saveur féérique pour France et Sonia, deux dames plus âgées bien sympathiques.

This week we had the chance to have summer before spring! That was comforting and it replenishes energy. I took this opportunity to finish a painting I started on Livestream a few weeks ago. It’s a mandala, nothing extraordinary but it’s good for the unconscious or so they say.

I was also pleased to get a nine pictures feature in the American magazine “Tattoos for Women” no.94. I sent those photographs several months ago and I was finally published! I will possibly get a feature on an English Web site but it is still under development.

Moreover, I finally sorted my mailing list and I should consequently start live tattooing again and the shirt shop as well.

Meanwhile, I finished Christelle’s tattoo, a zombie gypsy which I can’t wait to add to my folio!

I added a winter frame around Josée’s dog tattoo, as she found too simple.

Nicolas came to add a piece to his infernal sleeve.

To finish, I was entitled to two tattoos with a fairy-like flavour for France and Sonia, two older very sympathetic ladies.

Grosse semaine au travail mais pas beaucoup de nouvelles pièces à montrer pour le moment. J’ai compté les jours restants dans mon horaire et il reste moins de 12 jours de libres! J’ai donc décidé de ne plus prendre de nouveaux clients, seulement mes anciens clients qui veulent un petit quelque chose avant que je parte. Je dois commencer à ralentir un peu si je veux arriver à tout préparer et aussi à me mettre a mes nouvelles idées.

La fin de semaine passée je suis retournée à Montréal pour terminer les tatouages commencé la dernière fois. Je n’ai pas encore de photos de l’avant bras représentant la ville de Montréal à cause du mauvais éclairage mais j’en aurai bientôt lors des retouches. Je n’ai pas non plus terminé ma main par Kathleen car à la place j’ai tatoué Martin Cloutier du Studio TattooArt. Martin est celui qui m’a le plus donné un coup de main quand j’ai commencé à tatouer il y a quelques années et c’était très représentatif pour moi de pouvoir le marquer à mon tour! J’en étais très honorée. Martin est aussi un artiste du pin-stripping, c’est pourquoi il m’a demandé de lui faire des pinceaux. Il me restera a retourner une dernière fois pour fini le miens.

Entre temps j’ai quand même eu le plaisir de me faire encrer par le grand Todd Beck, un tatouage de fleur de lys du Québec mais a saveur néo-zélandaise. Pour moi cela signifie l’attachement a mon pays mais aussi l’ouverture que je veux avoir sur les autres cultures, ce qui m’appelle a voyager et j’espère qu’ultimement l’expérience que je vais aller prendre ailleurs reviendra enrichir ma terre natale. Je n’ai pas non plus de photo du tatouage encore mais ca viendra avec celui de Kathleen. Je suis cheap sur les photos cette semaine je m’en excuse.

I had a big week at work but not many new tattoos to be shown at the moment. I counted the remaining days in my schedule and it remains less than 12 free days! I thus decided not to take new customers anymore, only my former customers who want small work before I leave. I must start to slow down a bit if I want to be able to prepare everything and also to put together my new ideas.

Last weekend I went back to Montreal to finish the tattoo I started the last time. I don’t have any pictures of the forearm featuring Montreal city yet because of bad lighting but I will have some very soon after the touch ups. I didn’t finish my hand by Kathleen either but instead I tattooed Martin Cloutier from Studio TattooArt. Martin was the one who help me the most when I started to tattoo a few years ago and it was very meaningful to me to being able to mark him in the end! I was very honoured. Martin is also a pin-stripping artist; this is why he asked me to tattoo him brushes. I will have to go back one more time last to finish my own tattoo.

Meanwhile, I nevertheless was pleased to get inked by the famous Todd Beck, a tattoo of a Quebec fleur-de-lys but in New Zealand way. For me it means the attachment to my homeland but also the opening that I want to have to the other cultures. That’s what is calling me to travel and I hope that ultimately the experiment that I’ll get elsewhere will return to enrich my native soil if that makes any sense. I still don’t have a picture of that tattoo but it will come with that other one from Kathleen. I am cheap on the photographs this week, I apologize for it.

Ces derniers temps je m’interroge beaucoup sur la direction que je veux pendre avec mon travail et mon art. Je suis un peu tannée de concevoir à la chaine des visuels traditionnels, qu’on voit partout. Je me plains souvent que je n’ai pas assez de temps pour moi, pour créer les choses que je veux vraiment et je veux remédier à cela en essayant de tatouer un peu moins mais de m’appliquer à développer plus le style que je veux vraiment atteindre. J’aimerais arriver à faire des choses dans le genre de David Bollt, Jason Jacenko, Sean Ambrose, Jason Vogt et Nick Baxter. Je vous invite à chercher ces artistes de grand talent sur Google. Ce qui m’allume le plus, ce sont les thématiques qui vont chercher profondément dans l’inconscient de ma génération : les jouets, les jeux vidéos, les monstres, les influences des années 80-90. J’ai une fascination pour les comptes de fées un peu obscurs du genre des frères Grimm ou les histoires classiques d’Alice au pays des merveilles, le magicien d’Oz ou Peter Pan. J’admire toujours les artistes qui sont capable d’explorer a fond un même sujet et j’ai très envie de me lancer dans ce genre de recherche. C’est mon objectif des prochains mois.

Cette semaine j’ai terminé la mise en ligne du nouveau site web de Tattoo Crazy, la boutique à laquelle je vais travailler en Angleterre. L’adresse est www.tattoocrazy.co.uk. J’ai hâte d’y être, les gens là bas me semblent vraiment qualifiés et sympathiques, surtout le propriétaire Barry avec qui j’échange beaucoup de messages. Il ne me reste plus qu’à me trouver un appartement là bas et à acheter mon billet d’avion! Je prends des rendez-vous là bas à partir du 15 juillet.

J’aimerais tous vous aviser qu’il ne me reste plus que quelques journées de libre en mai et juin pour mes rendez-vous à Sherbrooke. De plus, moi et Rich Grenier avons réservé notre espace pour la convention de Halifax du 22 au 24 mai, j’ai vraiment hâte de prendre ces dernières vacances dans les maritimes. J’ai eu le plaisir d’être officiellement invité pour le Tattoo Jam de Doncaster au début Août mais Barry K et moi-même sommes déjà attendus à la convention de Norwich, les 15 et 16 août. Je suis vraiment énervée de tous ces changements!

En fin de semaine c’est mon dernier séjour à Montréal pour terminer quelques pièces faites là bas et pour finir quelques tattoos sur moi aussi. Il y aura plus de détails à ce sujet la semaine prochaine. En attendant voici les nouveautés des dernières semaines.

Paolo est mon premier client asiatique! Il s’est fait faire cette reproduction du personnage du manga afro samurai. J’ai vraiment aimé ce défi qui était presque un portrait pour moi qui fait vraiment peu de noir et gris.

Marie-Soleil m’a demandé ces roses traditionnelles sur l’épaule.

Nicolas, mon client avec les cartes a jouer autour du coude, a décidé de faire faire complété sa manche « sombre » et nous avons commencé par cette poupée de chiffon inspirée de la pochette de Korn.

Maggie a finalement terminé sa pièce de fierté québécoise (ainsi que d’autres symboles personnels) sur son épaule. Il s’agissait de son premier tatouage qui a été réalisé en 2 séances.

Joanie, cette jeune écolière plutôt mature pour son âge a aussi terminé la deuxième séance de son dos.

Finalement Louis-Philippe, alias BK2 est venu pour faire terminer son deuxième portrait sur l’avant bras. Encore un défi agréable à relever. C’est plaisant de faire changement!

Lately I wonder a lot about the direction I want to take with my work and my art. I am a little tired to mass produce traditional visuals we can see everywhere. I often complain that I do not have enough time for myself, to create the things I really want and I want to try to fix that by tattooing a little less but giving my all to develop the style I really want to reach. I would like to do things like David Bollt, Jason Jacenko, Sean Ambrose, Jason Vogt and Nick Baxter. I invite you to seek these artists of great talent on Google. What turns me on the most are the themes that deeply reach in the unconscious of my generation: toys, video games, monsters, 80-90’s influences. I have a fascination for the obscure fairy tales like brothers Grimm’s or the traditional stories of Alice in wonderland, the wizard of Oz or Peter Pan. I always admired the artists who are able to deeply explore a unique subject and I really want to get into this kind of research. This is my next months objective.

This week I finished the new Tattoo Crazy’s website, the tattoo shop where I will work in England. The address is www.tattoocrazy.co.uk. I can’t wait to be there, the people there seem to be really qualified and sympathetic, especially Barry, the owner, with whom I exchange lots of emails. I only need to find us an apartment and to buy my plane ticket! I’ll start taking appointments there starting from July 15th.

I want to warn you all that I only have a few days left in May and June for appointments in Sherbrooke. Moreover, I and Rich Grenier reserved our space for the Halifax convention from May 22 to 24. I am very eager to take these last holidays in the Maritimes. I was pleased to be officially invited for the Tattoo Jam of Doncaster (UK) at the beginning of August but Barry K and myself are already booked for the Norwich convention, August 15-16. I am really excited by all these changes!

This weekend it is my last stay in Montreal to finish some pieces I started there and to finish some tattoos on me too. There will be more details about this next week. Meanwhile, here’s my latest work of the last weeks.

Paolo is my first Asian customer! He made me do this reproduction of a character from the afro samurai manga. I really liked this challenge which was almost like a portrait for me who does so little black and gray.

Marie-Soleil asked me for these traditional roses on her shoulder.

Nicolas, my customer with the playing cards around the elbow, decided to make me finish his sleeve and we started with this ragdoll inspired of Korn’s album artwork.

Maggie finally finished her Quebec pride tattoo (as well as other personal symbols) on her shoulder. It was her first ink and it took two sessions to do.

Joanie, this high school girl rather mature for her age also finished the second meeting of her back piece.

Finally, Louis-Philippe aka BK2, came to finish his second portrait on his forearm. Still a fun challenge to rise to. I enjoy doing some things different!
